As far as pricing goes, I believe Canon is cheaper. How much quality and specs you want will ultimately determine the price. I believe both companies make top quality products. While Canon takes a lead in pictures, Sony makes up for in video. It's sorta hard for me to pick one or the other. But here's what you can do if you're interested in buying a camcorder or for anyone that wants to know the the answer to this question because they're wanting to buy a camcorder. Go to a retailer store and try out the products. This is probably the best way to go about doing it. You can write down which camcorders you like after testing them and take this list home. Then research the products and compare the specs.
Prices and numbers only mean but so much. It's more so trying to find a camera that fits your needs.
