It was fine when we would hang out at the cinema, go shopping and whatever and spend like 2 minutes at her house, but lately we're over there a lot more ... which means seeing her family. And not just her mum and dad, but like the extended as well; aunts and cousins, and brother and nephew and so on. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that they are lovely people, it's just they ANNOY THE HELL OUT OF ME.
I KNOW they're probably trying to be nice and considerate of my needs when they ask "are you sure you can get in that side of the car?"
[I'm disabled, in case you're sitting there going "wtf?]
But then I just don't LIKE them. I'm HER friend, and I can be polite to her family for 2 seconds when I wait for her to get ready so that we can go out, but I don't want to sit there with them trying to be less awkward in the middle of what is, essentially, a family reunion.
But yesterday ... god.
A few months ago I told her something and made her swear not to tell anyone (boys/drugs/alcohol-related) because quite frankly, it was embarrassing.
So her mum is like making these comments about how nasty and trashy she thinks girls are if they "do stuff" outside of relationships, how alcohol is disgusting and people who take drugs are stupid. Her aunt starts up about how her daughter [my friend's cousin] never comes home drunk. The cousin starts going on about how she doesn't need alcohol to have a good time.
Coincidence, I think, until her aunt goes and makes a joke which is too close to what I'd told my friend to be a coincidence ... and they all started laughing.
Now we were in a car, so I could hardly jump out, but I honestly wanted to kick them all in the face.
I don't know what to do ... I'm going to basically ignore her for a week or so, because I need to cool down.
Then I'm not sure if I should say something, or just act normal, and not tell her anything personal ever again?
