I went to greece for a week and before i went i was very pale, especially on my face from where i'd been wearing foundation and my face had completely lost it's colour.. i'm back in UK now and i've come back a nice golden brown colour. I don't want to lose this colour, i'm considering sunbeds to maintain it and before anyone recommends fake bake it is just a NO and as for 'au natural' when i'm pale it's not very healthy looking, i just look ill. If i were to use sunbeds, because i've now gained a definate base.. how long would i have to go on for and how often?... and are the lotions you use when you go on expensive? cheeeers!

some of the lotions are expansive, but you can find cheeper ones, alots a couple times a week to once a week depending on how fast your tan fades.

It's funny how people think pale is 'not healthy looking' when in reality tanning is actually harming your skin.

Anyways, you should ask the people at the salon where the sunbeds are. They'll know what the best time for you is to remain the same colour, because it varies depending on skin colour and how much of a base you already have.

If you're so pale, there's probably an issue with how many nutrients and such that your getting. Whether or not you get sun, you should still have a healthy blush, especially if you're a young female.

As for sunbeds, I don't really have much experience but be really careful when you use them.

Don't forget that getting a tan often/regularly ages and weakens your skin immensely, and also makes you more susceptible to getting melanomas and skin problems.

I didn't say looking pale on others isn't healthy but as for me.. i wore foundation on my skin which made me lose colour and my face looked significantly lighter than the rest of my body therefore whenever i didnt wear foundation everyone always assumed i was ill because i looked it.

i tan quite alot and using a sunbed is a good idea. if you're tan fades on an average level, you can probably go about 3 times a week. as far as the lotion goes, the more you pay, the better it usually works.

you know tanning is as addictive as smoking?

I don't have an addictive personality, i smoked for 3 years and last week i woke up one morning and gave them up without the patch, gum or anything.  If i don't wanna do something anymore, i can drop it there and then.

Go the recommended time they tell you at your salon. And go as few as you can because that kills your skin more than staying outside during peak hours every day.

Sun beds will damage your skin. They are stronger than normal sun  and it damages skin. Avoid sun and you avoid wrinkles. Nicole Kidman does not look "Ill" even Vic Beckham has wised up to sunbeds. A tan is a sign of your body trying to protect itself.
Try some of the gradual tanners like Holiday Sun J&J or Dove new one. They go on easily can be used on your face every day till you get the colour you want and the Dove one is a nice moisturiser too, really silky feeling. It can be used to prolong your tan too.
Glad you have given up smoking that causes wrinkles too.
