You wake up halfway through the next day, and you feel like you've been hit by a truck, a.k.a., a hangover. The next day even, you're probably still not feeling the greatest, and you have to make sure the mess that was made was cleaned up,
Actually, people who aren't retarded know exactly how to avoid hangovers and sickness. It's not hard at all and since I figured that out, Ive never had a hangover despite drinking a lot. Same with my friends. If we see someones drank too much, we help them do this. And the entire flaw with your argument, is that you assume that it is a "need" and not a "want."

I definitely agree with the OP, most of my friends either drink, smoke weed, or do both, and it irritates the hell out of me. The thing that keeps me from doing it (besides my morals) is the fact that there is no positive effect of doing either, and only potential negative. ...that and the potential to get hooked.
Clearly there are positive effects, otherwise people wouldn't do it. You just refuse to acknowledge hem. Why do people drink? For a variety of reasons, some valid, some not. Alcohol effects people in different ways, but it does have a tendency to relax and lower inhibitions. This can facilitate a feeling of well being, and promote social interaction. Both of these are valid reasons for consuming alcohol.

By the way, this thread is a sound argument for opening up the Intellectual forum to the general public. It seems like most 'Intellectuals' here are brainwashed pansy ass wimps.

Neither do I. But promoting the false dichotomy that you're either completely sober or drunk off your ass is dumb and a sign of brainwashing.
I know. My mother drinks socially and occasionally but doesnt get drunk. I understand this is possible and the world isn't black and white in several respects including this. HOWEVER The kids my age and even older/younger only drink for the distinct and sole purpose of getting fucking shitfaced and thus creating social drama in the aftermath.
That's their problem. Their behaviour is not representive of everyone who drinks alcohol.
That is true. but it's representative of the origin of the sample.
Huh? The fact is that alcohol can (and *is*) consumed responsibly, and does provide beneficial effects in appropriate quantities. That idiots abuse alcohol is not a strike against alcohol, it's a strike against idiots. Perhaps instead of running to the government to regulate and demonise, we should attack the root cause (ie. idiocy).
