A mouse?

Mouses are computer accessories, along with the keyboard and speakers etc. This topic is about progammes like MSN and Internet Explorer etc. But not all internet based right?

I didn't read the title, so I saw "What does he need?"

An OS would be nice, otherwise my suggestions might be meaningless.

Comes with one of those bud

I meant is he using OS X, Windows, Linux or what? Asking for programs for his new 'computer' is meaningless when we don't know what the hell he is running on it.

Meh, I just find VLC handy. Not only does it cover every Codec ever, it's fairly easy to run from command line. Sometimes I just run my desktops music by SSH-ing from my laptop across the room because I'm too lazy to get up.

Ahh, might explain it. I don't tend to run many .flv files, nor have I watched a DVD in months. These days I just watch movies off my hard drive.

You dont NEED anything

But you might want
Firefox
VLC Player
Avast Antivirus
Utorrent
Games of course

Replace Avast with AVG, then I agree.

Chrome is good browser to have on hand as well.
