Company chairman Bobby Kotick admitted that low profits could lead to withdrawing PS3 and PSP support.

"I'm getting concerned about Sony. The PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform," he told The Times.

"It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation."

Kotick added that if the gaming giant fails to push a price cut, overall sales of games will drop and the firm may pull out.

"They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates are likely to slow," he said.

"If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony."

I myself Don't see it happening, but, still, it's news to post.

In my opinion, this would hurt them more than it would hurt Sony. But don't get me wrong, it would still hurt Sony also. I just think it happens to be a very stupid move on Activisions part.

I hope this is only a joke that's going around the Internet. If not, then Activision is stupid. For one, they would be losing out on about 22.75 million people (not including the PSP fanbase) that could be buying their games. If I have my numbers correct, they make more money off of Sony than they do Microsoft because of the Playstation 3 and PSP combined, which is why this doesn't make much sense. In other words, it sounds like they're just money hungry bastards.

In my opinion, this would hurt them more than it would hurt Sony. But don't get me wrong, it would still hurt Sony also. I just think it happens to be a very stupid move on Activisions part.

well, if you look at the sales and the price, then you know for sure they're getting their money. Call of Duty 4 for example sold 4.34 million worldwide on the Playstation 3. If you add in Xbox 360's total, then they are for sure being paid off. What would make more sense if Activision was exclsuive to the Playstation 3 and they weren't making a profit, but so far majority of their games are multiplatform and sell well on all three consoles. Like I said, they're acting like money hungry bastards.

It wouldn't hurt really hurt Activision that badly. About 20% of their sales come from Sony platforms, however they also must sink a bit of resources into developing the titles for the PS3 while the PS2 and PSPs market shares are decreasing as time goes on.  Shifting away from Sony would allow them to pump more resources into things that essentially print money like CoD expansion packs and Whatever Hero for the Wii and DS.
