Plot driven RTS' don't come any better than Homeworld. Preferably the original, the plot was seriously immense (well duh, it's basically BSG minus the licensing - well, literally). The one downside is that it was made in 1999 so if you're one of these people who jizzes to graphics then you might not get as much enjoyment out of it as you should. Failing that, Homeworld 2 if you read a synopsis of the original is just as good, or... Nexus - The Jupiter Incident. Great plot, it's more Tactical than it is Strategic, though, since it's capital ship command, you control up to... I think it was 9 ships at most in the single player mode. But the graphics are stunning, and as I said the plot is top notch.

Company of Heroes! it's the best RTS I've ever played. it focuses heavily on strategy, rather than the size of your army, which is awesome. my friend and i play it online every so often and it never fails to entertain. it's basically like World in Conflict, if you've ever played that, but better

Dont have TF2, the rest I do.
I was considering reinstalling BF2142 for a bit of fun but last I checked it didn't work well on vista.
