I lived with my parents for about 5 months after i had my son. But then again, my fiance and i were saving up to get our own place.

And now we have it, and we couldnt be happier.

So let me get this straight..im 20 and have a 6 week old daughter and im living with my parents. does that make me some mooching loser? no. i cant help it that when i told my boy friend at the time that i was pregnant that he wanted nothing to do with me if i kept the baby, so until i get him to sign the paternity papers and what not, im not getting shit from him. and yes, in the next month im getting a job, so I can support my daughter. and my parents happened to be supportive enough to help me take care of her, and provide us with a home while i get off my feet and make a life for me and my daughter. dont act like you know all of us. just because someone lives with their parents doesnt make them lazy shits, maybe somepeople got them selves into situations they may have not been completely prepared for at the moment, yes, but are doing what ever they can to give their children the lives they deserve.

You know what, name-call and crap all you want, but I'm not budging. If a person decides to keep their baby, then in my opinion, they should have the financial means to support it.

Um, right. So if someone gets pregnant when they're in a loving relationship, they have to have an abortion if they can't support themselves away from the family home? That is wrong. I know if I fell pregnant, my parents would allow me to live at home. There is no way that a basic job around here would pay for accomodation, bills and all the expenses which come with having a child. Some teen parents live at home but pay rent - is that wrong too?

I'm gonna go ahead and not waste the time to double check that, but either way, I didn't start this topic to get into technicalities about emancipation laws. In that case, I suppose if the girl was young enough when she got knocked up, there would be no option other than paying the parents rent. That situation is in the minority, though.

You started this topic to be a judgmental, ignorant little shit.

You are being judgemental though. You can live at home and still be an excellent parent. Not all teen parents who live at home rely on their parents to do everything for them. Some teen girls pay rent at home and look after their children alone - is that still bad?

No. But assuming all teen parents are the same and if they're living at home then they are lazy parents with no job and their parents are raising their children...is.

If you've never been in the situation then judging it does make you ignorant. You have to know something about what you're judging to make a correct and fair judgment and you know nothing about what it's like to be a teen mother. So yes, you are ignorant.

A.) I never called into question the parenting abilities of a teen mother, regardless of whether they're living at home or not.

B.) In my book, paying rent = being financially stable. So, no, those are not the people this topic is targeted at.

Hey now, there's a difference between "judging" and having an opinion. I don't know what everyone's getting their panties in a twist about, here. It's not like I came in here saying, "teen momz are stoopid!!!1". In fact I haven't really said anything one way or another about teen moms overall. I'm just gonna stand by my statement: if a teen can't provide full financial support for her baby, then she has no business keeping it.
