Okay, so I dual monitor using my laptop screen and a stock dell computer monitor.  I tried to change the dell resolution, and it went to a setting that makes it so you cant see anything, and fucked everything up.

So now when I plug in the monitor, it goes black, and turns of my laptop display so I can't fix it.  How do I reset the graphics settings?

The graphics card i have is Nvidia.

This happened to me at work a few weeks ago. Try holding down the Fn + the CRT/LCD function key, I think its F8.

Failing that, if you are getting something on the screen, simply launch the Nvidia control and reset them from there.

Open your start menu by clicking on "Start" in the lower left corner of your screen. Vista users click the Vista icon, yours does not say "Start."

Locate your NVIDIA software in the list of installed programs. Open your NVIDIA Control Panel by selecting it.

Select "Manage 3D Settings" under 3D settings in the left-hand menu. This will open your settings page for your graphics card.

Select the "Global Settings" tab in the 3D settings window.

Click "Restore" at the bottom of the window. OK the change if prompted. This will reset your NVIDIA graphics card settings.

Or do that ^^^^^

Hm, never had this issue, but it seems like going into device manager and disabling the graphics card and then re-enabling it should fix it.
