People should be more open about finding someone they like and not have standards that nobody can probably ever meet.

However, it's not bad to have certain standards. You don't want to just give yourself to anyone and everyone. It's okay to prefer certain characteristics...

For instance, a guy I date should probably be:

-Intelligent
-Sexy
-Slightly nerdy
-Not a huge sports fan
-Ambitious
-Interesting/a risk-taker

Intelligence is the hugest thing. I could NEVER EVER EVER date a man less intelligent than myself. I would die.

I agree, that is pretty narrow-minded.  

However, it's not bad to have certain standards. You don't want to just give yourself to anyone and everyone. It's okay to prefer certain characteristics...

-Sexy
-Slightly nerdy
-Not a huge sports fan
-Ambitious
-Interesting/a risk-taker

Intelligence is the hugest thing. I could NEVER EVER EVER date a man less intelligent than myself. I would die.

I agree that everyone should have some standards but I'm just pointing out that certain things people shouldn't require of everyone because more than likely they will not find that perfect person.
Perfection is imperfection anyway.

Yeah, you're totally right. It's hard to find that "just right" person. It's good to give a wider range of people a chance.

For instance, I would be open to dating many different types of guys with a wide variety of characteristics...they just couldn't be unattractive or stupid.
