Well yeah the "people don't take relationships seriously unless you're married" part is a tad, as it implies that marriage is only for those people, but I'm thinking that most people see it this way to some extent.

Because your virginity is something you can't get back, your suppose to save it for that specail someone and give it to them as a gift. I mean think of it this way when you do get married what are you gunna tell your husband if he has kept his virginity for you and youve been with a million ppl. (not saying you have) but I mean its like a new pair of shoes kind of, would you give a pair of worn out shoes that everyone has been in to a friend or husband w/e, or would you give him new shoes?

Well that's understandable I guess. I wouldn't say "you're SUPPOSED to...", but that's a good reason to hold out. I just don't consider everything that I can't get back as "sacred". I get that your first time with anything is special, and you probably wont forget it, but that doesn't make it important. Just different.

My point is that "you're SUPPOSED to..." isn't a very good reason, when your excuse is that you can't get it back. Virginity is an idea people just made up.

I really like fighting, but I wouldn't hold out my first fight for some one I especially despise. It's the same idea as holding out on sex for some one you especially love. It's a nice idea, but nothing you're supposed to do.

Now I'm not saying you SHOULDN'T hold out, I'm just saying there's no universally great reason to. I think that people hold their first sex experience as more important than their first time with anything else because people have given it a name.
