Can someone who has experience with them explain to me what they do for you? Like what are the positive effects they give you? I know they supposedly make you happy... but how is that even possible if you can still think about horrible shit from the past?

They don't make you happy, most just make your chemicals more normalized like everyone elses. If you went through something traumatic you might need to go to a counselor.

tbh, my sister tried every single anti-depressants there are - they all made her WORSE.   their side-effects outweigh the good (not that i could even see any good coming from her using them)  they made her mood swings worse, she cried more, she got violent, it made her constantly ill. and it isnt just "its different with everyone" because she tried them all, and i know plenty of people who only got worse with them. They screw with the chemicals in your mind, and my friends dad ended up trying to murder his wife when he went on them, because it messed everything up in his mind so he stopped taking them..
Occassionally, they "help" but more often than not, they just add to problems.  Cognitive therapy is what ive found works best.

Does anyone know why he would use an XG Reviews email? I looked into it and it's an online magazine review site, that also has an online forum (but you have to pay to register on there).

I'm on Zoloft and it took a few weeks before I noticed that I was feeling better than I used to. I can function pretty well now - before I went on it, I could barely do anything, it felt so pointless and I was just in despair constantly.

Nothing hugely traumatic happened in my past to result in depression, I just... got depressed. When you're thinking a lot about bad things that have happened to you, you will probably need counselling, even if you do start taking anti-depressants. It can help a lot to have someone to talk to.

The team wanted Jordan to unblock her based on the fact that he was moderating her, and she should have the right to respond.  Not Jesse specifically.  I read the reports wrong, Sean.

I'm on Lexapro. It was working for quiet some time, but now I'm depressed more than ever.

From personal experience, anti-depressants are likely to do fuck all for you in your particular situation, other than make everything feel a bit more numb.

I was on citalopram for a while, and it helped me lots and lots. But this was only because I'd learnt to deal with everything in my past and had no actual reason to feel depressed, other than the fact that I just was. There was nothing playing on my mind, no reason to set me off into hysterics. I suffered from depression, and the anti-depressants helped.

If you have a reason for your depression other than a chemical imbalance, then they're not really going to do much. You will most likely only feel even shittier, seeing as they'll make it so much harder to express your emotions, harder to cry. Your best bet is to give counselling a go, talk things through, get them into the open and start coming to terms with what's went on over those 5 years you've spoken about. It'll take a long time and it's not going to be easy, but if you really don't want to feel like this anymore then you'll do it.
