I'm thinking about getting the Original iPhone.

But the thing is, I don't need any data because 99% of the time i'm around a high speed Wifi Connection.

So do I just get an unlocked one or one already activated? I don't need it unlocked to be honest, because I have AT&T, but just don't need data.

I just want it so I can have everything in one, phone, internet, and a good music player.

Also, whats a good price? because I just got 125 bucks for digging up roots for my mom, but i'm selling my Samsung Propel for 100 and iPod for 100, so is 325 a good price for a ORIGINAL 16gb iPhone?

If you're on AT&T you don't need to unlock it or anything. At most you'd have to jailbreak/hacktivate it.

I sold my old original iPhone, 8GB to my friend for £100. 325 sounds quite steep for the original, even if it is the 16GB version. I'd say 200-ish sounds like a better price range, depending on the condition of the phone. You might try checking eBay for a rough guide, though stuff on there is usually more expensive than you'd be able to get it offline.

$325 is awfully pricy for the original, especially given the lack of features the original has. I mean, my brand new 5800 cost me $330. That much for the original iPhone is a rip-off at best.

As for data plan... well, welcome to one of my many complaints about the iPhone. There is no way to make sure it's using wifi instead of 3g/edge. Like most settings that might be useful beyond the most basic, it doesn't exist on the iPhone.

I'm not sure how long this deal I got is going along, or if it is even a trend with the other iPhone services, but up here in Canada, I bought the iPhone 16gb around a week before the 3GS came out, for 203 dollars, including taxes.
Apple loves to make the older versions of things inferior, so this isn't any different, and you should still be able to get the older one for around 199 or so, for the 16gb.

As for the Data Plans, I'm pretty sure it will come right in with the phone plan, and might not be easy to separate.
Depending on what you need, you will pay from 45 up to 65 dollars a month.
I pay 70, and that includes 250 minutes, unlimited texts in Canada, 100 outside of Canada, visual voicemail, call display, and 500 mb of usage. I will never go over the 500, and have only used 100 this month even after going into the middle of nowhere and just browsing for hours.

I also just played around with my phone, and unfortunately, there isn't a way to get off of the 3G network to use just WiFi, even though if you always have WiFi, it overrules 3G

Cue one of the reasons I got my Nokia 5800 instead of the iPhone. I always thought it completely ridiculous you couldn't tell the iPhone whether to use wi-fi or 3G depending on what was available.

But you also then don't have an iPhone. Major con.
The new ones might, who knows.

I may not own an iPhone, but previous to getting my Nokia 5800 I borrowed a friend's quite a lot for web access when we were traveling / not at home. I got enough use out of it to know, in detail, why I didn't like it.
