I'm confused about some things:

1) What is the point of going away to a university if you don' know what you want to do?

2) Are all roomates annoying or crazy? Can you pick yours?

3) Can you still finish your pre requsities, or is it better to do those at a community college?

4) do bad grades like Cs or Ds transfer on pre reqs? I was told colleges pay attention to people who re do classes to get better grades, which is the case with me and math classes.

5) Should someone go if they don't have direction? its not the army you don't have to be there...

that's all I can think of.

1. If you don't know, the point is to go and figure it out. There are so many classes you can choose from. You're bound to find something that interests you.

2. If you get lucky, you can hit it off with your roommate, but it really all depends on luck. Some can be awesome, some can be crazy as fuck.

3. It depends on what sort of college experience you want. Community college is much cheaper, but it's not the same atmosphere as a real time university.

4. I believe that they do show up - but if it ever gets to that point, withdraw from the class by deadline instead of actually getting a D in a class if you can.

5. If you are serious about getting an education and going somewhere in life, then yes, you should. Even if you don't know what you want to do RIGHT NOW. There are so many people like you out there at college.

1) Because You can take all the crap that you would need for any degree(math, comp, biology, Spanish). That stuff takes a while to get...in that time you could dabble in introductory classes to things you may want to major in. I'm in my third year and just now know what I want to do and I'm not even halfway through all the regular stuff I need.

2)Some schools allow you to file dorm applications with friends, some do not. If you have a total psycho roomate, your dorm advisor could switch you.

3.) Most pre-req require you have them before going on. If you are going to a university, I would suggest taking all of your pre req classes there. Teachers do so many things differently. If you take all the classes at the same place, chances are you won't miss anything, the teachers will know you, and you are more comfortable. However, taking them at community college first saves time and is probably easy.

4) It may be different at your school, but at my school a D does not transfer as a passing grade. I got out of Algebra with a D and have to retake it.

5)I totally recommend college. I hate high school. I had no idea what I wanted to do. High school- they teach you WHAT to think. College- they teach you HOW to think. I started out just wanting to get a degree in theater, an after 2 years, I want a law degree. The more classes you take, the more choices you have. If you go an find you don't like it, you can leave at any point. Like you said, it's not like the army. The only problem would be if you have financial aid. That may cause some problems.

Hope I helped. You can message me if you need anything =D.

Ha, no dorms are for students only...get an apartment.  As for those others, if you don't know, i would recommend just picking something.  Those other people said go and figure it out and there are lots of classes you can take for gen eds, but trust me, that only works for maybe a semester.  After that you need fairly specific gen eds for every major.

So, unless you have a lot of money and time don't just take random gen eds like I did.  I listened to people who told me to take gene eds for the first 2 years b/c it didn't matter and got screwed because now I'll be at least one year behind in any major because my gen eds are all over the place.  Take a semester of different classes and see if you like any, then make a decision, no matter what.

I've kind of lost interest in classes, I mean it's going to take a lot to get me interested. The thing is, if i do get an apartment, I'll spend my money on basically just that, and i will definitely be behind in college. but thats the thing, i don't feel behind if I never cared in the first place! I just want to figure things out myself if that means "getting behind" I'll get behind! Most my pre reqs are done with, besides science, if I want to get an associates or whatever the first degree is.

Well if you don't go to college what are you going to do? Do you have a job lined up?

I work at Target. so yeah. but it's temporary I just feel extremely overwelmed by all the options, plus alot of personal things that have happened.
