I saw what the future holds for me. I've been searching for the last 3 Weeks or so to find the right career path to go down.
I have a basic qualification in Youth Work, but need a Bachelor's degree to be able to call myself a "Professional Youth Worker".
Even though I have enough experience to start the degree course, I don't feel that I have the amount of experience I'd like to have.
Reading the topic about the 15 year old with HIV put things into perspective. I want to be able to work with young LGBTTQQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans-gendered, Transsexual, Queer or Questioning - the "PC" phrase) young people. So I'm going to take the next year to hopefully get a placement at a local youth project that works with this "group" of young people.
Then I will start Uni in September 2010 (2 years after the rest of my "peers") to get my professional qualification, then the rest can go from there.
Working with young people is something I never thought I'd be able to do, but my 9 month Gap year placement showed me I can do it.
I just hope my future works out for me. In the mean time, I'm here with a listening ear for anyone on the site that needs it
