For the record, I support the Iraq War, and it's stated aims, which are noble and admirable. However, I think America needs to get off the pedestal and start living in the real world. Let me give an analogy: If you park your car on a street in New York City and leave the doors unlocked with the keys in the ignition, you cannot blame "those dirty New York car thieves" for your own naivety. The United States habitually parks it's car with the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition in a world full of car thieves (who are also heavily armed).

Nlame doesn't solve the problem, and neither does maintaining America's saintly image in a context where actions speak much louder than words. We did not go into Iraq because we wanted to give the people democracy. We went into Iraq to stop the spread of a militant, anti-American (anti-West in general), ideology that encourages distortion of Islam and radicalization of Muslims towards terrorist activities.

America - get real and get honest. What the world respects is strength.

And we can't really judge him fairly yet, as his term's not even over yet. We don't know what the long-term effects of his presidency will be, or what will come from the policies he's implemented.  

Many presidents regarded as great today were loathed when they were actually in office. Pretty much everyone hated Lincoln until he got shot. Now he's considered the best president we've ever had. Truman was hated as well. Now he's usually ranked pretty highly on the cool president list. Not that I'm saying that Bush will be considered a good president someday, I'm just saying- opinions change as time unfolds.

My view on the matter: Yeah, things could be a lot better, but they could also be a lot worse. Say what you will, it could be much, much worse.
