I think they are often used as an escape from reality for people that just can't deal with it.

ONLY for those who abuse drugs, and use them on a regular basis.

I on the other hand am only interested in a few for spiritual experiences. And that's it. Salvia Divinorum for example.

Any drug I use is for exploring the areas of my mind that are hard to reach soberly. I don't do it for self-medication, because I can't handle life, etc. Actually, in my most stressful times, I don't take any drugs other than non-recreational prescriptions.
