i will be gone for 2 weeks. i got my insulin but i forgot to bring my other meds. i take amaryl, lotension and metformin. about how long can a person survive without these medications before something happens? i'm worried. i am far away from home. i called the pharmacy but they said it's nothing they could do.

I would go to a pharmacy wherever you are. Skipping prescription medications is not good at all. They will most likely be able to contact either your physician or your local pharmacy back at home and provide you with the medication.

If the pharmacy that you use at home is one of the big chains such as CVS, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Rite-Aid they have online access to your prescription records and can refill them without contacting your doctor.  If it is not a pharmacy that has a national connection the pharmacy cannot legally fill them without approval from your physician.
