and, nobody had any idea of what hell looked like before a poet decided to explain it in a story. it is nowhere in the bible that people who 'go to hell' are burned for eternity and suffer immense amounts of pain and torture based on the sins they committed in life.
the idea of what hell contains is made up, in the mind of authors who wrote about it first, and encouraged the idea through an extremely good story that is quite entertaining. but before that, pictures of 'satan' were much different. he was not depicted as someone who reigned over a fiery inferno, like you think.
hell was written about in the God inspired Bible. not a poet. and the Bible is the Word of God and truth.
find me the passage in the bible that describes hell as a fiery inferno then. 
In Matthew 25:46 Jesus spoke in a single sentence of everlasting punishment and of life eternal . Since the righteous will be given eternal, or everlasting, life, many theologians believe the punishment for the wicked must last as long as the life given to the righteous. But this cannot be reconciled with the statement that those cast into the lake of fire perish; they are killed. As we have seen, they suffer death-the second death (Revelation 2:11; 20:6,14; 21:8).

that it? what about the rings of hell? the constant pain of torture based on the sins you committed in your real life?
that is the view of hell most people have. because that is what was written in the divine comedy, which, whether you like it or not, is the basis of what we view hell as today.
