Every computer in our house doesn't want to work today.

avast! decides to crash at the same time on all of our computers, Eraser doesn't want to work, FireFox decides to crash at any random time, making typing this difficult, etc.

I don't see how it would be a virus, since none of our computers are connected, and we all visit different sites, none of the same.
