about 1000 I think
i dont know if its illegal though...

Did you pay for it? Its illegal.

Probably getting close to $50k. I cant afford most things. Though, my music pirating is justified (in my mind) since I use the money I save to go to concerts and buy merchandise, the things that artists actually get money from.

Are you kidding me? I have a 14GB collection, approximately 2GB of that I actually payed for and/or old CD's. Don't even get me started...

Thats nothing...

I have 35gb, and thats just music. Add in TV, movies, software, etc and I have 150gb, and thats just what I still have saved.

I couldn't really say myself. I've got 2x 500GB hard drives, one is full to the top of movies, and video games as well as some programs. But i've deleted about twice as much as i've currently got on my hard drive, i'd say i've easily downloaded a terrorbyte of data.

A terrabyte? Pff, I've got 1.8TB just of anime :P

Over £10,00. But I would not have bought most of it anyway - I do go out and buy stuff that a) I enjoyed, and b) are available in the UK. I do a couple of imports as well. I'm not damaging the economy imo.

I am running out of space on 870gb of total HDD space, most of the stuff on it cost me nothing.  That doesn't include games that were downloaded, played, and deleted.  Going to buy a terabyte or two to transfer things over to.  Besides amounts, I never bothered totaling it.

Considering I have over 400 Gigs in movies alone on my desktop... a lot. I also occasionally pirated software, though now I just use Free Software.

Based on everything you've downloaded, how much would you think have you avoided paying by downloading things free.

Perhaps you've only downloaded a few songs from limewire, or have downloaded thousands of pounds/dollars worth of profesional software as well as movies and games.

I've heard a lot of people saying that people who download illegally are ruining the economy as well as the industries which make the stuff. So i am curious to just how much worth of content peolpe are "stealing" by downloading illegally.

I'd say i've gone about £10'000 or more myself. I've been downloading a lot in the past few years. The only thing i've bought, in the media industry is a few cheap DVDs and some video games. probably only about £500 worth if that.

The thing is, a lot of the time those numbers really don't represent lost revenue as the people wouldn't have bought it anyways.

For example, I really don't like buying MP3s (there are way better audio formats, and if I'm paying I want it in FLAC or something damnit), and I refuse to support DRM and useless middlemen.
So the only time I buy music is CDs if I can get them directly from the artist.

Um... I use dollars... lol

Anyway, since we are talking about stuff we are technically not supposed to talk about (illegally downloading stuff), we can only beat around the bush to say what we mean.

That said, bittorrent is a really helpful way to get stuff done. I find that it is pretty slow, though. (Remember, though, that bittorrent is not all illegal stuff. You can download legal stuff like... linux)
