i wasnt at college but the most amount of room mates ive had at a time (for about 2.5 months) was 3 others, so 4 of us. It was alright because I got really cool with them so we always had fun

Sure. The space was annoying as sin, but we got used to it. One of my roommates was a nudist and klepto, so that made for lots of fun. I made sure, however, that I got the side of the room with the single bed. That way I had an entire side to myself, and only had to share closet space. That would be your best bet if space is an issue with you.
