I currently volunteer with two places.  I am a volunteer firefighter with my local fire department.  I am also a Div Chief with the Portlight Strategies DART team.  We respond to disasters, whether the be natural or man made.

I did for quite some time. I have been with the fire department for going on 5 years, and I have dated two of the guys there, not including my husband. When the guys found out I want getting married most of them backed off. Some still do, but they are all like family to me now.

That's awesome.  Not a lot of people take a lot of interest in that.  Glad some people do.

Thanks. I find that adult learners will be easier to work with since they are coming to me instead of being forced to be in school like teens or children.

Explain to me how doing volunteer work puts a rod up anyone's ass? So doing something for others is now in some way bad? :facepalm:

That's a lot of fun. I've done a lot of rides on the ambulances and will be working on one soon.

Not at all. I work with my local library, helping them out with cataloguing and things of that nature.

I just don't don't feel the need to rub in others' faces what a lovely person I am.
