I was recommended Schindler's List by a frequent visitor in our store and decided I would finally give in and watch it. I must say, it is one of the few movies to really leave me in awe after it was over.
Presented in black and white, the movie is a long three hours, but remains fast movie and is based on a true story about Oskar Schindler, a nazi, who employs near 1200 Jews to help them avoid being killed during the Holocaust. The movie shows how he goes from an all-for-profit businessman by using the Jews, to helping as many as he can make it through.
With some very graphic scenes, a couple scenes of nudity, and some strong language, it's too bad this movie can't be shown widely in history classes. Instead of documentaries, I would've learned a lot more from this movie during my schooling years. The ending really moved me, but that's all I can say about it without spoiling it.
The Good:
+ About as good of acting as it gets
+ Best 'based on a true story' film there is
+ Educational, yet is a feature film
+ Graphic violence needed to be in it
The Bad:
- Very long (3 hours)
- Confusing at the start
Final Say:
The only thing I can really say about Schindler's List, is how much of a MUST see it is. It truly has to be seen to believed. Find three hours and rent this movie. I have purchased this to add to my personal collection, and that says a lot.
Rating:
9.5/10
