In America?

The ones I've researched seem to regard it as a top priority or something? Like their football/basketball/hockey teams?

Will I have a better chance at being accepted if I put a lot of sporty things on my application?

Note: Sorry for all the uni topics.

Schools do have a special place in their hearts for those who play sports, especially those schools that have an awesome team and would like to keep it that way.

Ex. UF, UM, UMD, ect.

The sports that they're proud of are full of people who were picked from a high school and sent to their university on a sports scholarship. If you aren't VERY excelled in a sport, they won't care what sports you play.

For some schools sports are HUGE, but for others, nobody really gives a shit. Putting sport type things on your application won't help, imo. But if you played a sport in high school it should be on your application regardless.

If you played sports while still doing great with classes and your grades, the schools will view you as a near-perfect candidate because you know how to multitask without failing.

My school couldn't care less.  They're more likely to take you if you were Captain of the math team.  In fact, we don't even have a football team.

I mean, I played many different sports for a few years and I was really good at them. Should I write them down?
Like where it says "sports/hobbies" I should write "I played such and such for this amount of time" and they will view that as good?
I have no real way of proving I played them though except my word.

If you did it in high school... yeah. They really dont care if you played 4-6 t-ball.

Some schools do, like the college I go to, their equestrian teams (horseback riding) are really big, and are highly ranked throughout the state/nation. Other sports here though...not so much.
