I agree with legalisation. It's already been said - tax the hell outta it and regulate it.

BUT on the other hand I do know a lot of dealers who will be mightily pissed off if their sole income (or main income) is mainstreamed into society and legalised. Haha oh well.

legalize it and tax it, will help out mass with the recession as well as put a lot of dealers out of business and less drug crime

then after the recession, stop taxing it.
legalize it, there's no bad side affects, just leading to harder drugs

It only leads to hard drugs because if you are buying weed you are likely to come into contact with other substances aswell. Take shady dealers out of the picture by legalising weed and I bet you'll find a decrease in harder drug users.

alcohol is a drug? o ya "alcoholism"

Dude alcoholism is one of the only kind of addictions that you can die from if you go cold turkey. Alcohol is one of the most dangerous drugs out there simply because people aren't well informed enough about it, and they think that since it's legal, it must be safe.

Legalize pot.

Legalize it so that people can be taught responsibility with it. So many people already use it, but don't know how to handle it.

Best video and serious interview discussing the topic of marijuanna legalization. No matter if you agree or disagree with legalization, I hope the tone is an example of how we are deepening the conversation on the topic. Lets take things seriously and look at the information given, not just preconcieved notions.

Why is it illegal in the first place? I don't understand that. I've heard that it's close to harmless.

Making it legal would lower drug crime a ton, and yes i agree they could tax it and help with the government deficit.

Also making it legal would make it safer too, then you would know exactly what your getting when you buy it from a store, instead of off the street laced with chemicals you've never heard of.

it would have to be 21 to buy it, or else by federal government law, you'd be considered a minor and anyone selling to you risks being arrested.

Legalize it. Don't stop at decriminalization. Legalize it.

It would be a billion dollar industry. Taxes on that would help the economy out enormously.

Worried about the Mexican government falling into the hands of violent drug cartels? Well, legalize pot and those cartels will lose a massive chunk of their profits. Who in their right mind is going to risk dealing with a potentially violent drug dealer when they can just walk down to 7-11 and buy weed like you would cigarettes?

Sure, it can potentially ruin your life if you're irresponsible about it. But so can alcohol. Let's ban that. So can cigarettes. Let's ban those. So can caffeine. Let's ban that. So can spending. Let's ban shopping malls. See how ridiculous that gets?

sir u are a genious we should all understand that the most innocent things can be addictive and potentially harmful

In addition to tax revenues for the govt., something a lot of people are forgetting is that the 7.6 billion dollars spent annually on the war on cannabis (aka the war on drugs) will be eliminated from federal and state spending.

Now these officers can be better used to ensure that peace and order is kept, and that truly dangerous people and substances can be kept at bay or even eliminated.

In addition to these things, JOBS will be created for seed distributors/plant cloners, for hemp and marijuana farmers, for the trimmers and the curers, for distributors and their modes of transportation, and last but not least for hometown grocery, liquor, and convenience stores.

Imagine this on a national scale, and at the very minimum you're looking at tens of thousands of jobs/opportunities for U.S.A. Everything grown, processed, shipped, and sold within our own currency flow, a force that can drive a stagnant economy into subtle movements towards a lively bull market.

Add this to the benefits of medical legalization, and you've got a cheap alternative to high-cost medicine for EVERYONE, not only those with insurance. No longer will the black market drive dank strains up to $8,000 a lb. in dry areas; sheer numbers will drive the price down to universally cheap levels, ensuring that all can get quality at prices unheard of in today's world.

As more and more states vote towards statewide medical legalization, we as a country step closer and closer towards the end of this meaningless, fruitless, and downright unconstitutional cannabis prohibition.

I'm all for legalization.
I'd make the points, but most have them have already been made in this topic (less gang-related crime, no real reason for illegality, economy stabilizer, etc)
