Today in my abnormal psychology class we were discussing post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD. One of my classmates has PTSD as a result of being kidnapped several years ago. I also have an uncle with PTSD, his is a result of being in the army. He didn't get much help for it because when he was in the army they didn't consider it a big deal.

I'm just curious, do you know anyone with PTSD?

did the majority of them seek help or did the majority deal with it on their own?

My aunt has it. She wasn't beaten like my mother was, but the exact opposite. My grandmother wouldn't let her leave the house after she was raped. She would make her sit next to her all day and night. So things were never dealt with, and she's still dealing with it. She blacks out and beats the shit out of people now.

Most of the mild cases did not seek help, it seemed the only ones that got help were the ones that couldn't control it.

It sucks because everyone else takes the hit for her problems, but you learn to be tolerant. :/

Are you talking about my DD form 214 or my orders or what? SRB? Could be many things in the army, the first thing that came in my head is the Selective Reenlistment Bonus. Is that what you are talking about?

The ones who sought help have you noticed any improvments with them? That is, if you keep in contact with them.
