Bhutan. Ever heard of it? Seems most people have not.
Bhutan is a small country on the border of India and China. If you've ever wanted to see Tibet before the Chinese invaded it, Bhutan is probably about as close as you can get. Most people there still rely on subsistence farming, most are heavily Buddhist, and the country is home to some of the most splendid naturally scenery in the world. There is almost no heavy industry and polution guidelines and incredibly strict. NOTE: Not for Mickey-Mouse sweatshirt tourists. And you'll probably need to learn a good bit of Dzongkha (language) to get around.
