Aw, yeah something like that always is scary. Especially if you've already seen someone close to you suffer from it. The first thing I was thinking though when I read this was that perhaps all your stress and worrying are causing some of these physical problems, rather than a disorder? I mean it seems like you've really been under a lot of pressure and strain for a while. High levels of stress for long periods of time can shut down the body's immunity and cause physical symptoms as well. Have you thought about maybe seeing someone consistently to work out some of the emotional stuff? You said you went to the psych ward once but that doesn't always end in follow up care. If you aren't, I highly recommend that you talk to someone about some of the emotional/mental stuff that you're going through. It's not just pseudo science. There is a ton of evidence that links mental health to physical well being. Perhaps taking care of one can help with the other more than all these drugs, needles and tests can.
Is there any way you can destress during all of this to help out? I know if you're feeling like crap you may not want to do much, but it would help if you could find something to keep your mind on during the whole thing. Maybe work on writing while you're in for tests? Or pick up a hobby to keep you occupied when you are feeling really sick? I know just laying around in bed feeling miserable isn't going to help with the depression issues at all. Finding an outlet during those times might?
