I'm watching an Intervention episode w/ a ballerina who is anorexic and bulimic. She practices something called chewing and spitting where she chews her food up to a mush then spits it in a cup. I'm not going to lie I have had problems with bulimia, but I really don't see how this works. It just goes to show how mentally fucked people are that have eds. We eat to nourish our bodys all spitting it back out does is tease your taste bus. I totally would do this if I wasn't partly a conservationist and a logical thinker. Does anyone do this on here?

I saw that episode. It's pretty fucked how they told her to lose more pounds and that's how it started. It could be subconsciously to make the body think it's getting food. They should explain it in the show.

But she's not getting them, hence the spitting out part. She doesn't swallow or absorb any of it to prevent weight gain.

Yeah, I know it's trickery. I was just hoping (kinda messed up to hope.lol) that someone on here could explain how it works for them.

You get absolutely no nutrients if you do not ingest the food. The nutrients are absorbed in your stomach, never in your mouth.

I guess this is done when you are craving something but dont want the calories or the smaller portions, yet again, when you are chewing tasty food you are tricking your stomach therefore making yourself even hungrier. It is also depleting your body of such essential nutrients, you're calling for a deathbed.

I've seen that Intervention it did kind of disgust me actually. But I have done it before, I thought it was pointless but then I did it again haha, eds are mind boggling :p
