Original thread is in the political forum if you want to read it.  Basically here is the situation, various companies have come out with chips that are surgically put into your brain, and increase your memory, reflexes, intelligence, and allow you to connect to the Internet and various databases which allow you to download methods for doing almost anything, and after your brain receives them you can do then flawlessly.

Society has divided in half, those who use the chip and those who do not.  The chipped individuals are obviously given advantages in multiple aspects of life, but the non chipped side believes they do not know what it is like to be truly free.  They are also suspicious of the companies' intentions with the chips.  What do you decide to do?

I definitely would. Actually, I'd try to make my own chip, sort of pirate it, then I wouldn't have to worry about the companies taking me over.

I already have a chip in my brain
but seriously, I have trouble with hypothetical situations that are unrealistic... like, you can't imagine a world without friction, because the way particles behave would have to be completely different, so it would be much worse than just "slipping around everywhere"
I'm having trouble seeing a chip that does all that, so I chose "I would need more information"

I can see the advantages, but I would want to investigate the pros and cons myself. I wouldn't take it at face-value. Sorry to fuck up your hypothetical.

I'd have to have more info on that, such as, is there a link to the company at all? If they could not hack into my chip then I'd go for it. I just want the boost, no side effects

I wouldn't want the chip. If it came to that (where everyone was good at everything and nobody was bad at anything) I wouldn't be keen on living, So I would live without the chip and do whatever I want.
Kill the companies that make it. You know?

I think you're thinking of a different chip.
You're thinking the one where it goes in your wrist and integrates all your financial tasks, which is similar to a Bible verse....
this is something in your brain itself that apparently increases activity.

Nah, That would be to much of a risk, what if it malfunctioned?
It could possible cause long term memory loss, or brain damage most likely.

Yes, I sure would do that. I believe some day that will be the future. I would love it, I could have all the knowledge of the world. Well, that is if it was connected to the internet which I'm sure it would be. Can you imagine what the world would be like if everyone had one? We would advance a lot faster.

No, I've read a book that deals with this exact question. Well, maybe not exact. I'll submit to almost any other technology but something that has a direct influence on my cognitive abilities is simply too much.

I would immediately become active in the field of these chips engineering and once I was knowledgeable enough, make my own chip.

I'd wait until the implementation of the "Cyberbrain" before opting for a miraculous and therefore dubious "chip"

This is why I'd try my best to be one of the people working in experimental bodily/mental enhancement, or at least to know a lot of people in the field. I wouldn't want to be stuck with enhancement 1.0

Wouldn't think twice. It's one area I'm possibly looking to work in. I'd want to be at the forefront of it all, and that'd mean plugging in asap.
