If a tree falls in a forest and only abs doesn't hear it....umm...errrr

I already tried that route. Apparently its not enough for him not to see it.

Carie/Isobel:

His point is legitimate in that not everyone takes DTRM out of fresh topics.  This does push new threads/support threads out of it faster.  This was my original suggestion, but no one likes it that can do anything to change it.

Forum suggestion:
The two forums would be "General Discussion" and "Random Musings"  General discussion would be moderated like a normal discussion forum.  It can be a place for anomalous support topics that don't fit anywhere, but are instead forced in somewhere they don't belong, or allowed to die without second thought in DTRM.  It can be a place where you can have general talk about things.  It won't be a place where topics die in 5 minutes as they are replaced with new versions of the same annoying topics over and over again.

Random musings would be the current dtrm, with a twist: It doesn't appear in fresh topics, and it gives half a point per post.  You would have the option to "Turn on" Random musings in fresh topics.  But the default would be having it turned off.  This allows LiveWire members to have to seek out the general spam as opposed to have to seek out the support threads.

I believe that this is a step in the right direction for helping this forum achieve it's original purpose.

Doesn't mean he can't voice his ideas.  It's an idea that a lot of LW members agree with.

I directed him to the place where he should express his ideas in a way that actually has potential.

A topic in member to moderator to discuss the issue has no value?

How often do you think David actually browses this forum?  And how often do you think he does in comparison to how often he browses new ideas?

I'm going to say rarely for both but slightly more often for the latter.

Let's be honest though.  The odds of him 1. seeing the suggestion at all and 2.  doing something are slim to none.

yes. honestly. if he wants to talk about moderation of DTRM or about moderation of fresh topics, this is the perfect place for that conversation. A technical topic about the layout of lw is nothing we can change.

I think there might be a hope that if enough mods back something, David is more likely to submit.

ftr, I'm in full support of doing something along these lines, and like wolf's idea
