Soooo, my best friend is (was?) a girl, and I liked her for a really long time, ever since I met her. She's the only person I've ever even thought I really loved. About the time we graduated she dumped her boyfriend of two years, and I told her how I felt. She didn't feel the same, but we still acted the same as we always did until she had to leave for Basic. That said, she's in the National Guard. She finished Basic at the beginning of September, and me and two non-mutual friends drove 900 miles from North Carolina to Missouri to see her graduation. Over the summer, I got a few letters from her and not much else, and when we saw her, we hardly spent 3 hours with her. She told me that I was still her best friend and that she would call me as soon as she got to AIT in Arizona and on my birthday (which was ten days after her graduation), write to me, etc. She also told me where she was going to be staying once she came home, and that she was having her phone reconnected, since it was off until then. When we had to leave her, I gave her one last hug and we said our goodbyes, ending with me holding her hand for a few seconds and telling her that I loved her. I haven't heard from her since. No calls, no letters, nothing at all in over two months. From what I can tell, no one has. She told me while I was in Missouri that me and her aunt (who she was going to be staying with) were the only people from home she'd even contacted. From what I can tell, her aunt hasn't heard from her either. I got in contact with her recruiter, who's number she gave me before she left, and he told me that he'd received emails from who he assumed was her aunt, asking if he knew anything because she hadn't heard anything back either. It's his theory that while usually it's the people back home who forget about the soldier and move on, with her it could be the other way around. So pretty much, I'm feeling really hurt and alone, and I'm going on the assumption that I've lost not only my best friend, but also the girl I was in love with. I'm not sure what to think or do about any of it. I can't even think about anything to do with her without getting either really depressed or really angry, if not both.

She's intelligence, but there's no reason she couldn't contact anyone. She wrote and called while she was in Basic, and that's a lot less strict than AIT.

Exactly
I meant more strict, not less. There's a guy I know who graduated with us and is in AIT somewhere else, but I've talked to him since, and he's called people here, etc.
