so i just bought a samsung mp3...i plugged it in..do computers automaticlly recognize the mp3 or do i have to wait for my pc to scan/register it?

Depending on the model of the Mp3 Player you may or may not need to install some software, if it comes with a disk it's usually a sign of having some required software- although not always.
