i think they're made out of surgical steal. try different metals. nickel is pretty cheap so maybe more expensive like gold or platinum.

Stainless steel is the best. Titanium causes reactions in a lot of people so if your skin is already sensitive, it's best to avoid it. The metal can't cause an infection directly, only an allergic reaction. Just monitor it well and clean it properly and you'll know if the metal is suitable.
