My fiance and I have sex a lot. Most of the time he stays hard as a rock, whether he lasts 30 minutes or 3. Other times he gets super hard and in the middle of sex he will go completely soft. He says he isn't thinking about anything when it happens, and I trust him, he says it isn't me. He's really upset about it, and even brought up seeing a doctor. I don't know if he should see a doctor, it doesn't seem as serious to me as it does to him. This happens maybe once or twice a week, give or take.
He used to be a major alcoholic for several years, but has been sober now for 8 months, so I don't think that could be the cause of it, unless it is long term effects.
Has anyone else had this problem? Should he go see a doctor?

Yes doctor would help.
Also think about his life. What he does. What are his problems? Does he have many stresses? It could be anything.
