No, valium is diazepam and xanax is alprazolam, xanax is much stronger even when comparing 1mg xanax to 10mg valium.

according to your chart they would be the same, but i've done both on numerous occasions *hypothetically* and xanax fucks me much worse than valium, even in such different doses.

Possibly, the rate of disintegration of the Xanax pills is greater than that of Valium, allowing the chemical to hit you faster and harder. Also, all benzos work slightly differently, with their action on GABA being related, so some people would notice a difference, like you are saying.

Valium and xanax even at equipotent doses will feel different. Equivalency tables are as much as anything used for calculating what dose of valium will keep you from going in to withdrawal if you're on a certain amount of xanax etc. Typically xanax hits harder/faster, while Valiumlasts a really long time in comparison to xanax, yattayattayatta. If they were completely the same drug, why would both exist? (That all being said, most benzodiazepine equivalency tables put 1mg of xanax at 20mg of valium, not 10.
