It depends where you work. My ex works at a cheesesteak restaurant and he makes about 80 bucks in tips a day and he works 7 days a week. Not including the paycheck...So at the end of the week, youre looking at $1,000. He was loaded.

why would you choose a job over a 15 per hour job.

"server"? I smell underage member....
Nah, just the Canadian vernacular for "Waiter" thanks for the help btw dipshit
First of all, its COLLEGE. Second, it depends on the day, where you work, how nice of people you end up with at your table(s), and how good of a job you do. When I'm busing tables at my job, a tip can range anywhere from $0-$7 or so, depending on the table. It just varies. Some days are great, you can take home $50+, other days you go home with $10, and you're left thinking WTF. I work at a buffet style restaurant. So the people get the food themselves, but we clear the tables as they eat. I once had a table of three (all semi-elderly men, "guys lunch" apparently), they tipped me $7 and they didn't even make a mess. All had ONE tray, with just a couple plates, and the table wasn't even dirty. Then, you get families with small children, make a DISASTER, food EVERYWHERE, and leave you nothing. Point being, don't expect to factor that into your monthly budget. It's good some days, bad others. Then again, I also work at Starbucks. The tips are split based on the number of hours you worked that week. I've had about 3 weeks of shifts that count for tips (you don't get tips during your training). In those three weeks, I've worked around 15 hours (ish) a week. I've made almost $85 in tips. Not as much as a waitress would get, but it's decent cash considering we don't serve like at a restaurant.
