Electrical Resistance depends on three factors: Resistivity; Area; Length.

A lightening rod provides a path to ground in the event it is struck by lightening. A lightening rod is placed on the top of a structure (e.g., the peak of the roof of a house) and is grounded to earth. Lightening usually follows the shortest and easiest path - the lightening rod provides this path to ground, protecting people and structures from damage, injury, or death.

1. Resistivity, Area and Length....
2. A lightning rod or conductor mounted on top of a building and electrically connected to the ground through a wire, to protect the building in the event of lightning. If lightning strikes the building it will preferentially strike the rod, and be conducted harmlessly to ground through the wire, instead of passing through the building, where it could start a fire or cause electrocution.
