I have a Dell that had Vista and my internet worked fine (I have Charter). I reformatted my hardrive with XP becuase of some problems and am having serious trouble setting up my internet connection.

My modem is no where to be found on my computer. So my uncle said to download a driver for a network card, but I'm not sure which one or where to get the driver. Also, wouldn't I need a modem driver too?

What type of internet connection do you have (dial-up, DSL, Cable, Fiber, other)?

You will want to look at your service tag on the dell. Or at least get the model number.  From here, you can download the appropriate Network drivers for your system at Dell.com.

This should make your internet work again.  You shouldn't need a 'modem' driver, however.

I've got spurs that jingle jangle jingle.
As I go riding merrily along.
And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single?"
And that song ain't so very far from wrong.

As far as I know you will need to have a modem unless you are using dial up.. The drivers are supposed to come with the modem (or network card when you buy it), If they do not just google the model name and then driver after it, Eg.

"Linksys WRT54G Driver"
This will give you a list of websites that offer the driver for download.
