In people who get hpv, what is the % chance of getting genital warts? I have hpv but im really conflicted about telling any sexual partners about it, since anywhere from 50-90% of sexually active people have it.

I had two warts on my penis once, about 5 months ago, got them removed.

But im wondering if i have sex with a girl and she gets hpv what are her chances of getting warts too? Is it like 2-3%? I heard it was that low, but im not sure if thats accurate.

Please give me info so i can make the right decision.

thanks

i am not sure the percentage but you should tell them.  if you are sleeping with them you should care enough to not put them through that, plus girls can get cervical cancer from hpv.

Well.... I'm not sure on any of this, so don't quote me... but my understanding is that not all HPV viruses cause warts, and they effect people differently... what causes warts for you could just infect her, and later lead to cancer... I know there are some HP viruses that can lead to cancer (thus the vaccine), so no matter what, you need to tell every partner.

Look, it's far more dangerous for the girl to get HPV than genital warts. HPV causes cervical cancer. Warts look bad. And anyway, it's the genital warts the carry the HPV virus, not the other way around

Ok bro, you wear condoms first of all. And then you HAVE to tell the person you have sex with. HPV is fatal to girls, you dumbass.

Ok. You are obligated to tell her before you have sex with her that you have HPV.
It's selfish not to and it doesn't give her the proper information to decide whether or not she is going to have sex with you.

If you've had genital warts, even if they aren't visible, you can definitely pass them to your partner. Even regular warts are contagious.

this

as for other replies, viral strains of HPV that produce warts can not also produce cancer. There are over a hundred strains of HPV, and those that produce warts do not have a risk of causing cervical, penile, anal, or any other kind of cancer.

that does not, however, mean that you should not tell your partners that you have had HPV just because they probably won't show symptoms if they contract it.

basically what you're saying is you want to know what the chances are that she'll find out that your gave her an STI.

also your 50-90% statistic is wrong. 50% of people carry HPV at one point in their lives, however most healthy immune systems can ride the body of it in 2 years or less.

In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed.

And if you do get them infected, time to go to prison.

Federal law right there.

There are MANY strains of HPV... only a few are known to cause cancer.  It's more likely will not develop into cervical cancer for females.

Either way... percentage of warts or not, you don' twant to transfer an STD to anyone.  Because then the next person they have sex with will get it, etc, etc.

So really, you should ALWAYS use a condom, AND let the person know what your situation is.  That is what I would consider the right condition to be.  Even if the person doesn't get genital warts, I doubt they would want HPV at all.

That's the dumbest reasoning for not telling someone you carry a possibly deadly STD I've ever heard.

No shit.
To me statistics don't even matter in this case.
You never know who's more suseptible, and you can't base your choices soley on random "facts" you get from the internet.

That wasn't reasoning against it. If you decided to read the rest of my post, I continued to say that regardless, a person wouldn't WANT an STD, even if there were no bad results from it. That you should always use a condom and let the individual know. So, it wasn't a justification, but a comment to make sure you weren't misinformed in thinking that HPV was necessarily fatal. MANY people carry it. Many strands aren't fatal.

In fact, I could argue that YOUR post contained horrible reasoning, because your point could easily be argued. Because then the OP could easily say, "Well, I know I don't have the cancerous strain, so it doesn't matter".

In this way, your post is more flawed in it's reasoning than mine is, because mine targets ALL form of STDs, not just those that classify as fatal/cancerous.

I agree.  He only quoted part of my post.

I even said...
