Facebook needs a persistent connection to work optimally. Lapses in internet can cause it to fail.

Speed has nothing to do with it.

What i'm saying is that there may be interference which would cause 'gaps' in internet use, which would make facebook not work.

Like ottoman673 said, They require a persistent connection to work optimally. This means that the connection needs to stay connected, When you are on wireless the wireless signal tends to drop out (packet loss), This can cause the connection to lag or even leave you unable to access the website.
