When I was 16 I first saw the doctor about depression, and was diagnosed with mild depression because it wasn't too bad back then. Anyway, I'm now 19 and throughout the years things have got terribly worse. I've been offered medication, but have always turned it down, and despite doing my best to make myself feel better and such - even studying abroad in Paris which was a life long dream - I feel nothing.

I don't know if embracing these things by myself is better than a lifetime spent on prozac or not. Well, maybe not something as strong. I think my doctor mentioned it again, because I might now potentially have bi-polar but will need to see a psychiatrist with a 'mood' diary for him to work out. Ahh!

It can help sometimes. Other times it doesn't. It's really up to you.

Once you find the right medicine and the right dose... It can do wonders.

I have been on and off antidepressants for years.. I had given up on them. About 6 months ago I flunked out of school and got very depressed. I was doing a lot of drugs and trying to kill myself regularly.

I was put on Zoloft and sometime after the dose had been increased twice I just started feeling better. It returned me to normal.

I don't have panic attacks. I don't try to hurt myself. It's grounded me. I'm still unhappy, fuck you can't medicate that but I'm not deep in that pit of sorrow.
