I've been talking to one of my friends, who's looking to pick up a new car, and I've found him a few options. He's looking for decent gas mileage, some performance, and above average winter performance. Some where around 20k, plus or minus a few.

I've recommended a few, Si, WRX, MS3, 350z, and a few others. He's leaning towards the WRX, or maybe the Si. This will also be his first manual car. Any others I should consider?

Cooper S (probably not superior in winter, but known for good control)

Might be able to find a Evo, but bound to be beaten to hell.

Dodge SRT4, Cobalt SS turbo, Acura RSX, Legacy GT, Evo VII or IX maybe, sounds like a performance AWD or FWD would fit the discription.

Or maybe Pontiac GTO, Charger SRT-8 as well

SRT4's are kinda old and beaten, the new ones are trash. I suggested the SS's but he wasn't intrested. Evo seems like too much car for someone to learn on. Maybe the G8, and the RSX. Thanks.

Why get a 350 when you can get a G35x.

Yeah I'm going with WRX. Its in his price range, hatchback has plenty of room, and AWD.
