Yeah if you're using iTunes on the mac just burn em and load them back onto itunes and they will be free of copy protection. Otherwise just download them from a P2P program or use torrents.

Yo guy, just burn your tracks to a CD, delete the DRM version from the computer, and rip them on your comp. Tits.
Works, but time-consuming and either lossy or takes up a whole of disk space. Why is it this difficult for us to listen to the music we've paid for in the environment we want to play it in?
It's ridiculous, IMO. There's only so many options to do this for free, plus using a CD-RW you can keep doing it. Plus, at 25ish songs per CD, it shouldn't take more than an hour or two.

But that's the thing, why does should it take an hour or two and consume over ten times the disk space (if you're ripping in lossless, the only way to preserve quality) when it should just work on whatever player you want from the off? The only truly universal music codec we have is MP3, a lossy relic of the 1980s.

Chances are, if you want the music on something other than an iPod, you don't need the best quality. Lossless is a huge waste of space, IMO, especially for something that you are going to listen to on shitty headphones. If you are an actual audiophile, then it would make sense do rip in lossless at the highest bitrate.
