People are using laptops as home computers increasingly often, now. And you could always unplug it from the speakers when you go out, and plug it back in when you get home.
Seems silly to me, desktops are much better for home use.. The only reason I'd get a laptop is for work and college

I agree - my I bought my laptop for school. Granted, I use it a *lot* at home, too, but I would have gotten a desktop had I not been bringing it to class. Still, people seem to be doing it.

My laptop's got a dualcore 2GHz processor with 4GB of RAM and an NVidia 8200GT video card, it blows most desktops way out of the water.  I designed it to be both a semi-powerful desktop and a portable laptop, and it achieves both pretty good.
