Is it possible to burn music to a blank DVD+R ?

If yes, it says 120 mins/ 4.7GB does that mean i can put 120 minutes worth of songs on it?

Best answer gets points.

Yes, you can, but you won't be able to play it in a CD player.

EDIT: you WILL, however, be able to play them via DVD player.

Also, you won't be able to erase the disc.

They lie so much. 70 mb gets you about 40-50 min of music. Do the math for gigs. If you burn it as a data disc, you might be able to pull it off.

You could, but it only be like burning data onto it.
I've never tried doing that and playing it in a dvd player before O.o

DVD+R is more directed towards DATA. It's a one-time-burn disc. It's not ideal for music/media.

If you want to burn MUSIC, and especially if you want it for playback, you're going to want DVD-R. It's set up for media vs. data.

Either one can work, in theory, but if you want ACTUAL playback, vs. just storage or backups, DVD-R is not the way to go.

Links to help you out:

DVD+R
^KEY PHRASE in this one: "DVD+R discs are suited to applications such as nonvolatile data storage, audio, or video."

DVD-R

Writable DVDs Info

Hope this helps!

Edit: For typing error, 3rd paragraph should have been DVD-R, not +R.

You'll be able to burn digitally-encoded music files, such as MP3, WMA, M4A etc to a DVD and a CD.

However, pure uncompressed music can only be burned to a CD.  Only this will be read by a CD player.

A DVD isn't simply a "big CD".  The two disc formats only share common functionality when storing music in the aforementioned compressed formats.

The compression method will allow you to store far more music on a CD than traditional audio-burning would, but the sound quality would be vastly reduced and a traditional CD player wouldn't be able to read it.

Lol.  On a dvd-r disc when they say 120 mins they mean Video, not audio.  Yeah you can put a lot of music on a dvd.

Good point, I forgot to mention that.

A writable CD would be an option as well.

The 120 minutes refers to the length of standard definition MPEG-2 video that can be stored on the disc.  It has nothing to do with audio.
