I have been so tired, lazy, unmotivated and sleepy the past few months.. Saw a commercial on depression, and it seems like I fit the syptoms like a glove, but I consider myself a happy person..I've never even thought of being depressed. I can't explain why I just don't care anymore. I'm happier watching TV than being out with friends just because it's too much trouble to go out. Wtf is my deal? It's college apps time, and I should be stoked..but im not.

I'm no doctor, but I would think that there would be sadness associated with your other feelings if you were actually depressed.

That's how I am. I kind of just gave up on my social life. I like keeping to myself alot of times. I know who I can call when I want to go out but most times I just stay in and watch tv.

You're probably just stressed.  I wouldn't go as far as diagnosing you with some psychological disorder.  If these feelings persist much longer, maybe you should see a therapist.  There's nothing wrong with sitting down with a professional to try and make sense of your life.

you're a teenager, we have "phases"

it's not just parents making excuses, its fact. don't worry about it. take life a day at a time. maybe you're finding out what actually matters in your life, or maybe you're too stressed to process the importance and so your consciousness sees it as "not caring." the mind is an interesting thing.

besides, depression is overdiagnosed and mostly self inflicted. don't go to the doctor and say you think you're depressed. you'll end up with medicines that will not make you any better. shady.

I as the rest of us am not a medical professional but I will say this is not depression this is stress getting to you. You dont want to be around people because you will snap under the pressure of school, college and the family.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm not really trying to self-diagnose here, I'm just trying to get an idea why I've been this way. I can't imagine it being stress-related! It's not like I've got a real difficult life. And I'm actually considering going to bed now (8:40pm). I don't know what the deal is!
