my friend who lives in michigan just told me the company that ships him his tobacco can't do it anymore, so he has to start buying from ohio. i just offhandedly mentioned that if it was me, i'd just stop. and he said, "you don't understand the addiction"

i know smoking is a really bad addiction, but it seems like he's playing the sympathy card. he's been smoking for 20 years now. he's had lots of time to quit.

idk. am i being a bitch ?

you're just being ignorant. and you also obviously don't understand addiction, regardless of claiming to.

you don't just put it down one day when you didn't expect to have to, and go on. it is not an easy process. 20 years of smoking doesn't mean you had plenty of time to quit, it just means your addiction rooted itself more securely and quitting at this point will most likely be even harder on you.

He lives in Michigan. There is some big deal about a smoking ban, and a higher tax I believe, so they all started buying bagged tobacco because they can't tax you for it. Or something. I don't know, but it's cheaper if he buy's it this way, and he can buy like 20lb of it.
