So I came out to most people ages ago, early in high school... And I knew one of my friends who's Catholic knew about it, but I never said anything really. She must have known from facebook. I had just never received a positive response from most Catholics and our friendship was too important for me to risk by bringing up something that was possibly awkward. I mean, she was in the Jesus club... It was just so... different! Anyway, today on gchat we were talking about how her university is cutting foreign languages and my college might be cutting the inter cultural studies requirement and other budget cut related things, and I mentioned how I'm part of the committee for making a queer studies program. And after talking about it she mentioned she joined the queer alliance. And I was like, wait, what, like a GSA?! Apparently UCLA's GSA is called alliance. And then I said, hey so I never said anything, but you know I'm gay right? And she said its okay, because Jesus loves everyone and so she couldn't care less. And it was just about the best moment in the world. And she said never to be scared of telling her anything again. Apparently she was sad I hadn't told her for all this time. So yeah. People surprise you. It's random. But my day was terrible. And it was the best moment in a while. Lesson learnt: Never assume. Post edited at 11:49 pm on Nov. 3, 2009 by Medicated Smile

Not all Catholics are as judgemental as they are stereotyped to be. It's nice knowing your friend celebrates love and is supportive of you(:

My thoughts exactly. I remember when one of my friends looked at me once and asked me what I thought about her and her lifestyle. I told her it looked comfy (as we were sitting in her kitchen at the time) and laughed. I explained it didn't bother me the least bit as I have a couple of cousins whom were gay as well as several other friends. I'm not interested in hate or the negative aspects, plus I see no point in targeting other people's lives like that and then pretending to be God in order to judge others for their lifestyles, choices- however you want to look at it.

Congratulations. Now all you have to do is convince to become an atheist or an antitheist. Then she would really have an open mind.

What's the difference? lol Catholics are christians, too... they all believe in Jesus.
I totally never understood it. I figure if theres God, Jesus, and Bible... They're all Christians. :P
Most christian groups are break offs from the Catholic church as well as each other. In a very generalized sense (and I mean very generalized), we're really no different from each other as we all believe in Jesus, God, and the Bible (as you said). But then people get nitpicky about how they worship, why they believe and how they should believe, and in what exactly to believe in. Thinking about it in that sense is kind of sad... the big picture of it all is to love one another and to live together. It's sad because most people tend to over analyze it all and forget about the big picture. That even goes for other religious beliefs, not just the Christians.
